
The functionality of the AutoShunt connector system hinges on a shorting device housed within the male side of the connector pair. In an uncoupled state, this metallic device makes simultaneous contact with all six male pins, shorting the circuits together, and protecting the connected CT from damage.
However, as the connectors are coupled, the shorting device is displaced by the female molding, but only after the pins and sockets have engaged properly. This design offers a simplified, cost-effective, and reliable alternative to CT shorting blocks, which must be shorted manually.
