Prior to being launched, all space bound equipment must be tested on earth. In order to recreate the space environment, thermo-vacuum chambers of various sizes are employed to house the equipment under test, but the test instruments are almost never compatible with the space environment leading to the paradigm of having to pass all connections through pressure differential walls which separate the two environments. This is where hermetic connectors come into play and they need to possess distinct features which allow for multiple test configurations.
If you are curious to learn more about hermetic technology, click to watch the webinar below and hear about the basics of hermetic connectors and tips for designing them into your next project.
